Michael Fairall
Principal
CGP | MCGP | RME
Mike was born and raised in Pennsylvania where learned the building craft working for a family friend and contractor. His experience was honed while working for the Ryan Homes Corporation in the field and in operations. Mike moved to Hawaii when he was accepted into a Masters of Diplomacy and Military studies program at Hawaii Pacific University, during which Mike continued to work in the construction industry.
In 2004, Mike started his own company, Mokulua Carpentry and Construction, which would later change to Mokulua Woodworking, Ltd. Founded on the values, principles and ethics that Mike grew up with, Mokulua is a unique company in all regards with a “strategic and diplomatic” approach to building.
As Mokulua Woodworking grew in size and stature, Mike reached out to some carpenter friends from the East Coast. These men share the same work ethic that makes Mokulua Woodworking so unique and a true Ohana.

During his 6 years served in the US Navy Doug traveled and experienced the world. These travels finally landed him here in Hawaii where he met his wife Danielle. Together they moved to Connecticut where he studied Finance at the University of Connecticut School Of Business. In 2007 he accepted a position at ING managing retirement accounts and monitoring tax laws.
This stay on the East Coast was short lived as the allure of Hawaii continued to call him back. His expertise in business and his desire to help every client he meets have been a great fit to our team.Based in Kailua, Doug enjoys the beach, paddling, music and serving on the Kailua Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.
Brent Shaffer
Project Manager
CGP | EPA LEAD
Brent grew up in New Oxford, Pennsylvania and has been building since he could pick up a hammer; largely influenced by his father’s do-it-yourself projects, the nature of building runs in the Shaffer blood. Early on, multi-story tree forts were his specialty; in high school Brent and Mike worked together in a small construction business they called Friends Construction, a snapshot to the future they would create together in Hawaii as Mokulua Woodworking.
There’s nothing Brent can’t accomplish, a talented carpenter, high school wrestling champion and football player, an all around genuine guy. An outdoor enthusiast, Brent is an avid surfer, who tames the waves of the North Shore much like his approach to building, smooth and efficient. Settled in just off Kaneohe Bay; his favorite activity would have to be spending time with his lovely wife Charity and their Great Dane, Crash, enjoying the beauty of the islands.
Brian Godfrey
Project Manager
CGP | LEED AP BD&C
Brian grew up in southwest Florida where he learned the various trades of residential construction; everything from basic masonry to the detailed art of landscaping. It was in the field where he felt the sense of accomplishment associated with following through a finished product. While working for a high profile residential landscape architect he discovered his next passion… design. Brian graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. After graduation, he began his career as the youngest member of an international design team for Scripps Florida, a 30-acre biomedical research campus in Jupiter, FL. His understanding of the intimate details, in both design and construction, enabled him to recreate that sense of accomplishment over and over, not just for him but his clients as well.
In 2009 Brian relocated to the windward side of Oahu and was hired by Bowers and Kubota as a Project Manager; applying his diverse knowledge of design and construction to various renovation projects throughout Tripler AMC. As the newest member of the Mokulua Woodworking ohana, he views projects from multiple perspectives, with skills obtained in the field, developed in design and sharpened in management. Brian is a great asset to the Mokulua team. He enjoys the ocean, especially paddling and other adventurous outdoor activities.
Managing the finances for Mike and Mokulua Woodworking has been a tedious process but also an integral part of the company’s success. She not only brings the structure to the company, she adds the touch of Aloha as well!
